My role

Collaborated with the team to develop a comprehensive systems map, learner's journey, story map, information architecture, defined page structure and key task flows. Led the design of the bookmarking feature from concept to launch.

About LEARNING

SAP SuccessFactors Learning is a platform that helps employees grow and develop skills, with access to variety of courses and compliance trainings. Know more about learning here

PROBLEM

Old learning homepage was overwhelming and difficult to navigate due to:

  • Cluttered design: Too much content, visuals and features competing for attention.

  • Lack of structure & organization: No clear hierarchy, categorization or flows.

  • Excessive customization options: Overwhelming users with too many choices, leading to decision paralysis.

Business implications of the outdated experience:

  • Lost customer renewals

  • Decreased revenue for the platform

  • Customers seeking alternative solutions to fill the gaps

OLD LEARNING HOMEPAGE

Project goals

Team's goal was to provide an experience that enables learners to easily stay compliant (e.g., with industry regulations or training requirements), provides AI-driven integrated recommendations aligned with their goals and interests, offers trusted peer recommendations, allows learners to bookmark and manage courses of interest within the centralized learning homepage.

Guiding principles

Principles that guided us throughout the process:

  • Personalized and meaningful: tailoring the content to individual users' needs, interests and development

  • Guided: providing a clear and structured learning path, bring order to chaos, support users’ goals

  • Accessible: incorporating all relevant learning needs and features in one place, be available all the time across all devices.

  • Habit forming: inspire repeat learning, leverage existing learning habits

UNDERSTANDING User needs

The team aimed to help discover relevant learning and skill-based content for when users:

  • Have to learn - Access required training and compliance content easily

  • Need to learn - Find relevant resources to address skill gaps and career development needs

  • Want to learn - Explore interesting and engaging content that sparks curiosity and passion

This approach puts users at the center, providing a learner-centric experience that supports various learning motivations and needs and, makes the platform a go-to destination for all the users' learning journeys.

Process

  • Systems mapping to understand old complex learning module

  • User story mapping

  • Research based understanding of users' behaviors, motivations, and pain points

  • Redesigning of the Information Architecture (IA) of the module

  • Suggesting MVP, mid and long term design strategy based on technical, business & user needs

  • Creating and presenting early concepts to stakeholders and leadership.

  • User flows

  • Low-fidelity & high-fidelity wireframes

  • Interactive prototypes

Continuous Performance Management (CPM) Reimagined

As part of CPM reimagined, I led multiple design initiatives across modules:

  • Achievements: Marking activities created by users as achievements, viewing all achievements and their details.

  • Multiple goal plans: Linking of activities to goals across multiple goal plans.

  • Adding attachments to activities: Adding/editing/removing attachments while creating/editing an activity.

  • CPM & Rewards & Recognition (RnR) integration: Successful integration of RnR with CPM from concept to completion.
